Introduction

Kansai Dine Out was started by a group of friends who enjoy great eating-out experiences. Frustrated with a lack of information in English on dining in the Kansai area, we decided to create a community web site where like-minded people can write reviews and share restaurant tips.

Our mission is to make this site as fun and useful as possible. To ensure this site will remain a reliable source of restaurant information, we kindly ask our readers and reviewers to observe the simple guidelines below.

Comments

To ensure balanced and up-to-date information on reviewed restaurants, readers are encouraged to use comments to provide feedback on reviews. To comment on a review, click the "Comments" link beneath the review and follow the instructions. Comments which simply voice agreement or disagreement with reviews are not useful or particularly welcome. Please try to provide thoughtful, substantive, and fact-based comments.

Reviews

We need more reviewers. If you know a good restaurant and want to contribute a review, it is simple to become a reviewer. Just send an email to our email by clicking here.

In general we are looking for reviews of exceptional restaurants that may be of interest to the foreign community in the Kansai. If a restaurant is just ordinary, you may not want to review it - unless it is tourist trap about which you think the foreign community must be warned. Please take care to contribute reviews under appropriate categories for cuisine and locale and to observe the format used by other reviews. In particular you should not publish reviews without the necessary address and telephone information. Reviews should contain information of relevance to other diners including price, recommended dishes, web site, seating. You may want to answer questions such as: Is it good for a birthday or a special occasion? Are reservations necessary? Was it a good deal? Is it difficult to find? Are English menus available?

Ratings:

To provide a uniform basis for comparing restaurants, all reviews must use our pickle-rating scheme. An overall pickle rating should be assigned as well as a rating for each of the following aspects of the dining experience: Food (40%) Ambience (30%), Service (30%). Why pickles? Because they are cute!
